Health Benefits of Sporopollenin

What Is Sporopollenin?

Spores and pollen grains have tough, stable outer walls. This helps them stay preserved in sediments and soils. One of the most significant components of the cell wall is a substance known as Sporopollenin.

The chemical composition of sporopollenin seems to be stable and resistant to degradation from enzymes — a characteristic that has generated much interest in its therapeutic potential. However, there are still lingering questions as to the complete makeup of sporopollenin. To date, analyses have shown it to include carotenoids, phenolics, phenylpropanoids, and long chain fatty acids. It probably contains phenylalanine and other carbon sources, too.

Benefits of Sporopollenin

Sporopollenin as a component of pollen grain cellular walls may sound like something of an abstract concept. However, sporopollenin has been shown to provide a number of very real benefits. Sporopollenin can be an ingested nutritional supplement and has been reported to help reduce pain, symptoms of depression, and stress. One of its most profound attributes is that it is known to have a fantastic ability to act like a sponge around substances such as pesticides, toxins, chemicals and toxic metals, soaking them up and binding them together.

This has lead Global Healing to include sporopollenin as an ingredient in their organic detox foot pads that are used to detox the body.

The Need for Sporopollenin

Unfortunately, the modern, industrial world has lead to more toxins and pollution in the environment. Our farmland, our water sources, and the food we eat are all affected by this. Mercury, arsenic, aluminum, cadmium, lead, and nickel exposure is widespread and can lead to serious health conditions.

Archeological studies comparing ancient bones to those of recently deceased people have shown that we have roughly 1,000 times more metal toxins in our bodies. Over time, the buildup of these metals in our bodies can harm the bones and kidneys, cardiovascular and immune system, and even lead to heart disease, Alzheimer’s, and other degenerative diseases of the nervous system. We also live during a time when the excessive use of fossil fuels and other non-renewable resources has caused pollution. Sporopollenin is included in Detox Foot Pads™ to support full-body detoxification.
