Why is reforestation important?
Forests are home to over 80% of the world’s plant, animal, and insect natural habitats[1]. Forests cover 31% of our global land area[2]. Since 1990, we have lost nearly 1 billion acres of forests[3].
Global Healing’s Impact - Recent Statistics
409
Tennis Courts Full of Trees
Based on the 20,000 trees we’ve committed, restoring 8 hectares of land, and 2,500 trees per hectare planting density (261 metres squared per tennis court).
400
Workdays Created
Based on 20,000 trees we are committed to planting, at 0.02 working days per tree., generating 400 days of work for local tree planters across restoration sites.
65
Cars Off the Road
Once the trees mature, they will sequester approx. 300 tonnes of CO₂ over time. That’s the equivalent of taking 65 cars off the road for one year.
44%
Increase in Food Secure Families
Based on a four-year study measuring changes among farming families participating in the LifeTree System. These efforts can contribute to improved food security and stronger outcomes for local communities.

Agroforestry
Agroforestry is a sustainable approach to using and restoring land by combining trees, crops, and sometimes animals on the same piece of land. This creates an integrated ecosystem which can support biodiversity, soil health, and increase water retention. Agroforestry can also help improve food security and provide diversified sources of income for local farmers.
Why we’re investing in Nature-Based Solutions
Our planet is dangerously close to reaching irreversible tipping points. Today, millions of people are already affected by the loss of biodiversity and climate change. By investing in tree planting efforts and land restoration, we can help support communities, strengthen their ecosystems, and contribute to a healthier future for planet.
Addressing the urgent effects of climate change requires immediate action. Our partnership with veritree supports the global net-zero transition through environmental restoration worldwide. This initiative is crucial for regenerating nature, supporting the ecosystems that communities depend upon, and reducing economic inequality.
Frequently Asked Questions
Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), like ecosystem restoration and reforestation, prevent deforestation or enhance carbon sinks. The World Economic Forum and McKinsey analysis indicates NBS can cost-effectively achieve up to one-third of the emissions reduction needed by 2030 for a 2-degree net-zero pathway. Successful NBS offers co-benefits for business, people, and nature.
veritree specializes in verifying Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) projects through collaborations with planting organizations globally. The platform is initially launching with projects in Canada, Kenya, Madagascar, the United States, and Tanzania, with rapid expansion to additional sites planned.
Designed for ease of use, the veritree platform supports any restoration practitioner in developing and operating high-quality NBS projects. By providing ground-level monitoring tools, veritree enables planting organizations worldwide to scale their NbS efforts. This capability allows veritree to effectively connect these organizations with corporate partners and donors to secure support for their restoration initiatives.
veritree ensures the long-term success of new forests through two key methods.
Investment Protection: About 10% of funding is allocated to forest protection during the critical first 3-5 years. Buffer pools are also established to mitigate abnormal losses.
Community Stewardship: veritree engages deeply with local communities, emphasizing the forests' value. Involving them in monitoring, reporting, and education fosters a strong sense of ownership and pride. This engagement ensures effective, long-term management so the forests not only survive, but truly thrive.
veritree estimates carbon sequestration using averages from studies of mangrove (Southeast Asia, Africa) and Acadian (Eastern Canada) ecosystems.
Their estimation factors are:
- Species planted (including maturity age).
- Forest type.
- Region.
- Average tree survivability.
Initially, carbon sequestration (above-ground, below-ground, and soil carbon) is calculated at the hectare level, then quantified per-tree using forecasted planting densities.
To avoid overestimation, veritree conservatively uses secondary data, proxy data, or assumptions when primary data is unavailable, validating estimates with site-level data.
While veritree's current methodology uses credible academic papers, the company acknowledges limitations. They plan continuous improvement by partnering with academics. veritree does not currently offer carbon credits due to uncertainties regarding their accounting and the accounting of carbon sinks.
veritree prioritizes additionality and permanence to ensure its projects deliver a genuine, lasting impact that would not have occurred otherwise.
Additionality: veritree collaborates with corporate and local planting partners, managing the process from order to planting, ensuring the creation of new carbon sinks that wouldn't exist without their intervention.
Permanence: veritree monitors trees for the first five years to confirm planting and allocates funding for protection. After year five, remote sensing (e.g., satellite imagery) is used for long-term forest growth monitoring.
Level 1: Initial Submission
Verification begins once planting staff submit their planting form, activities, and required
evidence through the veritree Collect App.
Level 2: Planting Site Management Review
The second level involves planting site management (leads and supervisors) reviewing the
submitted data and information through a planting site review and data check.
Level 3: Final veritree Analysis
The final verification is conducted by veritree. At this stage, all submitted data and
evidence are analyzed using their internal machine learning algorithms to ensure accuracy.
