What Makes One Supplement Better Than Another?

Two vitamin C supplements contain the same amount per serving. You could pick either one and expect the same results, right?

Think again.

A Supplement Facts panel can tell you what’s in a formula, but it can’t tell you everything that went into creating it. Hundreds of decisions differentiate one supplement from another, and many are so small that you may never notice them. Small doesn’t mean insignificant, though. At Global Healing, we believe the tiniest detail makes the biggest difference.

That belief is part of our Make It Better philosophy. We’re constantly asking what we can source more thoughtfully, formulate more intelligently, preserve more carefully, or manufacture with greater precision. We don’t make these improvements just to sell more products. We make them to produce the best possible supplement for your health.

That’s what craftsmanship means to us.

The Difference Begins With Ingredients

Ingredient source and form can differ considerably, which is why we look beyond the familiar name on the label when building a formula.

For example, our Vitamin B12 doesn’t rely on just one type of B12. We combine methylcobalamin, adenosylcobalamin, and hydroxocobalamin because each form follows a different pathway in the body. Using multiple forms results in a more comprehensive formula with greater health benefits.

This is why comparing supplements by ingredient and amount alone only gets you so far. We want to understand where an ingredient comes from, how it behaves, and why it belongs in the formula before we decide it's good enough to use.

Craftsmanship Continues After Sourcing

Extraction, processing, formulation, and delivery can all influence the finished supplement, so our work continues long after we've selected the raw material.

Our Organic Valerian Root Extract demonstrates this approach. Rather than sourcing valerian extract from another manufacturer, we start with raw valerian and use our proprietary Raw Herbal Extract™ process to preserve the complexity of the herb and carry as much of that botanical character as possible into the finished extract.

When we created Oxy-Powder®, we didn't want to produce another digestive cleanser that relied on stimulants to force elimination. We reconsidered how a digestive cleanser could work and developed an oxygen-based approach that uses ozonated magnesium oxides and citric acid. These ingredients interact to release oxygen in the digestive tract, while magnesium supports gentle elimination.

Even a seemingly straightforward product like Oregano Oil gives us opportunities to make deliberate choices. Instead of just bottling oregano oil, we pair it with cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil as a carrier, peppermint oil for palatability and potential digestive support, and cayenne extract to support bioavailability.

We don’t formulate differently for the sake of being different. We consider the nature of the ingredients, what we're trying to accomplish with the formula, and which methods will help us create the best product possible.

Every Decision Has a Purpose

Some of the decisions we're most proud of aren't obvious when you pick up a bottle. The advanced delivery system we spent over two decades developing. The pristine manufacturing environment we built from the ground up. The rigorous safety and quality standards we uphold.

Quality is cumulative. Choosing an exceptional ingredient matters, but so does what happens next. A thoughtful formulation can be undermined by careless processing, just as sophisticated manufacturing can't compensate for poor ingredient choices. The standard has to carry through the entire process.

That's the heart of Make It Better. When we find a meaningful opportunity to improve an ingredient, formula, process, or finished product, we pursue it. The better option may cost more, take longer, require specialized equipment, or create more work, but ease and efficiency aren't the only measures we use to make decisions. The finished product reflects the high standard behind every choice.

Raise Your Standards for Supplements

So, are two supplements with the same ingredients the same? Think again.

Great supplements aren't defined by one extraordinary ingredient or one breakthrough technology. They're shaped by hundreds of intentional choices made over time. That's the standard we've spent decades building at Global Healing.
